Imagine stepping into a world of sun-drenched terracottas, golden palms, and the quiet luxury of a Nile sunset, all in the heart of London. For her 40th birthday, our client wanted more than a party. She wanted an escape. A celebration that was personal, unexpected, and utterly transportive. And that’s exactly what we delivered.
When she first came to us, our client’s brief was simple: an evening that celebrated her Egyptian heritage, without ever feeling cliché. From this, we built on her “Sur le Nile” idea to create a design concept, a celebration that wove heritage, luxury and modernity into every detail.
The inspiration came not from ancient Egypt, but from 1920s stream boats on the Nile and Egyptian hotels, chic, curated, and absolutely beautiful. The colour palette settled naturally: warm terracottas, soft sands, muted greens, and touches of gold, reminiscent of the desert at sunset.
The venue itself was a dream. We felt Old Sessions House, with its soaring ceilings, distressed walls and grand staircase, was raw, dramatic and perfect for our vision. It gave the party a sense of hidden grandeur, the kind of space that feels cinematic without trying too hard.
Champagne on Arrival
Guests entered a soaring atrium, where champagne flowed under the glow of candlelight. Peacock chairs and rattan furniture created small, intimate corners beneath parasols, while terracotta pots brimmed with bougainvillea and warm jewel-toned florals, all created by Flower and Press who interpreted what we wanted perfectly, in muted jewel tones. The effect was effortless: a sunlit Nile terrace, in the heart of the city.
"I loved creating this elegant Egyptian theme, which was just so beautifully curated. With the client’s inspirational ideas of luxury modern Egypt, we could be super creative and bring this vision to life.”
The Bazaar
From the calm of the atrium, guests discovered the Egyptian souk-inspired bazaar. Layered draped carpets, brass lanterns glimmered, and large baskets overflowed with fruits, nuts, and spices. The energy was vibrant, chaotic in the best way, with every corner revealing a little surprise.
We worked with Raj Tents and Virginia’s Vintage Hire for much of the props and furniture. Together with our client, we also commissioned many bespoke elements from Egypt: embroidered lotus tablecloths, scroll-style menus, and even gift bags filled with chocolate. These thoughtful touches threaded her heritage throughout the entire event.

Dinner Beneath the Palms
Dinner was a visual and culinary masterpiece, with beautiful plates from Maison Margaux. Three long tables were lined with breathtaking lotus tablecloths, each stretching the full length of the table. Towering palms rose from enormous glass vases, their leaves forming a lush canopy overhead. Warm amber goblets and flickering candles added a sense of intimacy within the grandeur.
Menus were handwritten scrolls commissioned from Egypt, and the food itself, by Blue Strawberry, was a contemporary take on Egyptian cuisine, with harissa, tahini, pomegranate, and fragrant spices flowing through every course. Wait staff wore traditional Fez, which added to the sense of being transported!
"Dinner felt like a centrepiece celebration of the client’s heritage and style, contemporary, beautiful, and completely personal."
The Party Begins
Behind softly draped panels, a hidden nightclub awaited. During dinner, guests caught glimpses of silhouetted palms and golden light, hinting at the excitement to come.
Once revealed, the space transformed entirely. A four-hour visual projection journeyed from Nile sunsets to iconic Egyptian landmarks, evolving into playful modern graphics as the night progressed. DJ Assad curated the soundtrack, working with the client to blend her favourite tracks into an energetic, unforgettable mix. Egyptian drummers led guests onto the dance floor, creating an immersive moment of pure joy.

Sweet Things
Later in the evening, guests drifted back to the bazaar where trays of baklava and traditional Egyptian sweets sat alongside brownies served in little terracotta pots. Champagne, margaritas and late-night espresso martinis kept the energy high, every detail playful, indulgent and entirely luxurious.
"What I loved most was how the party felt entirely hers, a mix of elegance, fun, and little surprises around every corner."
A Celebration Full of Soul
Every element told a story: heritage, personal style, and thoughtful luxury woven together. From the bespoke items sourced from Egypt to the food, music, and décor, every detail felt intentional.
"Thank you so much for everything! It was all perfect and exactly as I imagined and hoped for. It was magical. The response has been beyond incredible from the guests."
For one night in London, 120 guests were transported along the Nile, a birthday that was joyful, stylish, and unforgettable.
