Lighting the Way

Lighting the Way

Guests list drawn up? Menu planned? Venue sorted? The crucial factors of a successful party may seem lined up, however there is one essential ingredient to make your occasion mcandlelightemorable: the sometimes overlooked element of lighting.

Lighting is a key element – as important as the other big check points. It creates that elusive concept of “atmosphere”, creating the right ambience for your event. Lighting sets the mood and should complement the style and setting of the party. Once you have decided on the time of day and season for your event, you can adjust your lighting accordingly either to compensate or to maximise the different light conditions.

Candles work perfectly for day and night. For day events use shimmering glass and silver holders to create warm glow even in the sunniest of conditions. For a stylish evening event – maximise winter ebooks and candlesvenings with playful shadows and contrast from warm candles, and to create an intimate atmosphere at an event surround tealights in jewel coloured holders set against soft surfaces such as these leather book spines. Supplement candlelight at dining tables with carefully located spotlights to add drama whilst practically allowing guests to see well across their table and limiting excess light around the room detracting from the mood.

Star canopies are a wonderful way of creating a designated area at a party such as the dance floor, this can be contrasted with paper lanterns as a romantic lighting choice. Whimsical and soft they are lovely in a daytime marquee, we love white lanterns for a bridal yet relaxed country feel.

An original and stunning play with the use light on your environment is to use a statement projection upon your venue, which will complement the relief facades of stately homes. We love these as a fresh take on how to wow your guests.
