Latin magic

Some clients host parties. Others set the tone for how parties should be.

A recent 50th, without question, was the latter.

Our client came to us, recommended by friends, in September, with what she herself described as a “mad” brief: a 100-person birthday celebration in London on the first weekend of December. Peak season. Minimal lead time. An entirely international guest list. And, as she candidly admitted from the outset, she was a self-confessed perfectionist who usually micromanaged every detail.

But she also knew exactly what she wanted.

As for many international people, London, for our client, was the chic place to entertain. A natural gathering point for a life lived between Chile, New York and Germany. This wasn’t about spectacle, it was about energy, atmosphere, and bringing together the people she loved for something that felt effortless, joyful, and quietly extraordinary.

The Setting

After a swift but decisive search, we landed on Ladbroke Hall, a Notting Hill space with just the right balance of architectural drama and understated cool. With exclusive use of both the restaurant and the main party space, it allowed the evening to unfold seamlessly: cocktails upstairs, then a gentle descent into something altogether more electric.

From the moment guests arrived, the tone was set.

On the mezzanine, palms and sculptural greenery created a sense of height and intrigue, threaded with glimmers of gold disco balls suspended like modern chandeliers. Looking down into the space below, the effect was immersive - almost like stepping into a luminous, Latin American dreamscape.

The Aesthetic

The brief was “Latin magic,” interpreted through a palette that felt as if it had been lifted from the pages of Cabana Magazine: earthy terracottas, rich greens, sunlit golds, and unapologetically vibrant colour.

We leaned into texture and layering, went mad on Maison Margaux, patterned tablecloths, tortoiseshell cutlery, and an abundance of candlelight. The result was a space that felt both curated and completely uncontrived.

Lucy Vail’s florals brought softness and movement, while bespoke paper flowers, later destined for our client’s office in Germany, added a personal, lasting touch.

And then, of course, there were the disco balls. Catching the light, lifting the mood, and quietly elevating everything around them.

The Experience

With guests flying in from across South America, New York, and Europe, the room had an unmistakable sense of occasion, but never formality.

Dinner, created by Pollini’s kitchen, was Italian at its core with subtle South American inflections, delicate ceviches weaving through a menu designed for lightness and dancing.

Music was the heartbeat of the night.

A live bossa nova band set the tone early on, before DJ Daisy Belle, and then a jazz saxophonist carried the energy effortlessly from dinner into the early hours. The dance floor was never empty, not for a moment.

There were speeches, too; heartfelt, warm, and lots of them. The kind that remind you why parties like this matter.

And then it was simply dancing, cocktails, and that rare, intangible thing: a party that comes completely alive.

The Host

What made the evening truly exceptional however, wasn’t the design, the music, or even the setting.

It was our wonderful client.

There is a certain kind of host who transforms a party from beautiful to unforgettable. Someone who isn’t performing, or proving, or curating an image, but simply creating joy for the people around them.

She was exactly that.

She trusted the process immediately, something she admitted was entirely out of character. From the first mood board, she let go, allowing us to shape something beyond what she had imagined. And in doing so, she gave herself the freedom to enjoy it.

Her words afterwards stayed with us:

“I’m a complete control freak, but I realised I didn’t need to worry. You made it better than I imagined. I could just enjoy it."

She danced from beginning to end. So did everyone else.

Albion Alchemy

There’s a particular alchemy to a party like this - one that comes from a meeting of minds. A client with instinct, confidence, and generosity of spirit. And a team that knows how to translate that into something tangible.

When time is short, decisions become instinctive. There’s less overthinking, more clarity. You see the vision, you commit to it, and you execute it beautifully.

And perhaps that’s where the magic lies.

Because while we can design every detail, source every element, and orchestrate every moment, the true success of a party always comes down to how it feels.

This one felt effortless. Joyful. Magnetic.

The kind of night everyone wants to be part of, and no one wants to leave.

The Morning After

The following day, the mood softened into something altogether gentler: a relaxed brunch at Farm Girl in Notting Hill, closed for the occasion. Guests drifted in and out, still glowing from the night before, easing back into reality over coffee and conversation.

A perfect, understated epilogue to an incredible evening.
